How to Brew Perfect Leaf Tea
Preparation
1. Place your tea in a teapot. Use about 4g of tea per 200ml of water.
2. Add water at the correct temperature (see below) to bring out the tea's natural flavors.
3. Steep your tea in the pot for about 30 seconds, before drinking.
4. Tip! Make sure to pour out every last drop!
5. Add more hot water to brew a second pot.
Tea Temperature Guide
- Sencha: 80-90°C
- Matcha-genmaicha: 85-95°C
- Genmaicha: 85-95°C
- Hojicha: 90-95°C
Cold Brew
Preparation
Cold-brewed Cha Haus teas make a refreshing drink in summer. Our sencha and matcha-genmaicha teas work best with this brewing method.
1. Add your sencha or matcha-genmaicha tea to a jug of cold water (8-10g of tea makes 1L).
2. Steep in the fridge for at least 3-6 hours.
3. Drink the same day or strain out leaves to keep longer.
How to Prepare Powdered Tea (Hojicha & Matcha)
Preparation
1. Sieve 2g of Hojicha or 1-2g of Matcha into a tea bowl or large cup.
2. Add 70ml of water at 80°C.
3. Steep in the bowl or cut for about 30 seconds, before drinking.
4. For Hojicha, mix well. For Matcha, whisk together until foamy.
How to Make Latte (Hojicha & Matcha)
Preparation
1. Add 2-4g of Hojicha or Matcha powder to a bowl.
2. Pour in 30-40ml of 80°C water and whisk until well blended.
3. Warm 150-200ml of any milk and combine it with Hojicha or Matcha.
4. Sweeten to taste with sugar, honey or maple syrup.
How to Prepare Matcha with tea whisk (chasen)
Preparation
1. Sieve 2g of Hojicha or 1-2g of Matcha into a tea bowl or large cup.
2. Add 70ml of water at 80°C and whisk in a 'm' motion.
3. Shake your wrist back and forth vigorously to create a lather.
4. Finally, gently pull up the tea whisk (chasen) by moving it slowly to smooth the surface.
